Straight Haircut Tutorial! 3 Ways to Cut Your Own Hair
Hi guys! In my latest video, I want to you how I cut my own hair! In this video tutorial, I show you 3 ways to cut your hair.
For the past few years, I started to cut my own hair at home. In the past I had a few bad experiences at the hair salon where they would cut my hair more than a few inches, they didn’t do the haircut I requested, they did the wrong hair color and more. That’s why it motivated me to look for ways that I could do this at home. Don’t get me wrong, I know good hair stylists exist out there but just a few. To this day I keep getting discount deals for a trim at Supercuts so maybe in the future I’ll consider it, but for now, I think it’s fun to cut my own hair.
For any of these straight haircuts use one of the following 3 methods…
PREP YOUR HAIR…
1. Use a BPA-free bottle (similar) to spray your hair with water.
2. Detangle your hair with a detangler brush (similar).
3. Divide your hair in the middle.
METHOD 1 – Two ponytails
• With your hair already divided in the middle, do two tight ponytails (I use Goody hair elastics) on each side leaving them towards the front.
• Bring down the ponytails to your desired haircut length.
• Cut away the ends for a straight haircut.
METHOD 2 – One ponytail towards the front
• With your hair already divided in the middle, do one tight ponytail towards the front grabbing hair from each side of your head.
• Bring down the ponytail to your desired haircut length.
• Cut away the ends for a straight haircut.
METHOD 3 – Three ponytails on the back
• With your hair already divided in the middle, do one tight ponytail towards the back.
• Add two more ponytails, one in the middle, and one towards the bottom.
• Leave the last ponytail to your desired haircut length.
• Cut away the ends for a straight haircut.
CUT & SOFTEN THE ENDS
For any of these straight haircuts, methods make sure to soften the ends. You can either use a regular hair scissor Tweezerman Spirit 2000 (similar), a hair scissor Tweezerman Stainless 2000 (similar) or use a thinning shear hair scissor which is meant for this. On the other hand, you can use a razor as a faster method to cut the ends. I used my boyfriend’s Wahl trimmer to demonstrate this can also be an alternative. Choose whatever works best for you.

Wish I had known this when I had long hair. Very useful information.
I have long hair and think I might try this! I've really wanted to start cutting my toddler's hair, too. I'll practice on myself first 🙂
What!?! That's so crazy cool! I have super long hair and hate getting haircuts. May have to try this someday!

This is pretty cool, i have never heard of doing it this way. I do color my own hair but not cut it. I have extremely curly hair so i am scared to hah.
I give you props! I don't think I have the courage to cut my own hair lol
I always cut my hair at home although I've never been ballsy enough to try those methods!
