How to Earn Money Online While Shopping (and Get a FREE $10 Cash Back)
Update: Ebates is now called Rakuten.
I love saving money when I do online shopping and find good deals. This is why I’m sharing this Rakuten review for all my viewers and readers.
One thing I do to get free cashback is use Rakuten, and this is why I want to share my Rakuten shopping experience. I used to forget about this website all the time, but I found a trick to prevent that from happening.
Rakuten gives you FREE money for shopping.
Let me share with you how you can save money by using Rakuten, and how Rakuten works. I’ve already received a good amount in cash back, and it’s super easy to do so!
There are many cash-back websites out there, but Rakuten.com is the most popular option and is ranked as the #1 cash-back website.
What is Rakuten?
You probably wonder “What is Rakuten?” and how does it work? This is a quote from their website:
Rakuten offers coupons and cash rebates to customer who shop at its partner retailers. It has more than 1,800 partners with more than 8 million customers in the U.S., Canada, Korea and China.
How to use Rakuten?
When you log in to Rakuten.com, look at the stores they have available, or search for a specific store in the search box. Look at the percentage number next to the store name. Click on the store name, and it will redirect you to the store online shop. Then just do your normal shopping, and you will earn cashback. It’s so easy!
They have over 1,800 stores to choose from. Some of Rakuten’s top cashback stores include Amazon, eBay, Macy’s Walmart, Groupon, and Sephora just to name a few.
By the way, Rakuten is FREE! So no need to worry about a recurring fee or any type of fee. It’s completely free to use.
Another great benefit of using Rakuten.com is that you can still use coupon codes and discounts while doing your normal shopping. A lot of people think they can’t, but it’s not true.
Rakuten is not a scam!
You might wonder if Rakuten is a scam, and let me tell you it is not! I’m writing about my Rakuten experience because I have received my money back.
Rakuten makes money as an affiliate, the same way a lot of bloggers make money when they share affiliate links.
As an example, Sephora one of the biggest beauty shops is listed on Rakuten. Sephora gives back a small percentage to Rakuten for being an affiliate and sending customers to them. Rakuten then gives you another of that percentage for using their website. It’s a win-win!
When to use Rakuten?
Use it all year long, but especially during the holidays, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. On Cyber Monday they usually have double cash back, so make sure to keep an eye out.
On holidays is when most people use it to get a bit chunk of money back, it’s really neat and you end up saving a lot of money with their coupon codes.
Summary of Rakuten:
- Although it may seem like not a lot of money, getting a small percentage back of money is like covering online shopping taxes, and shipping costs.
- It’s easy to use, and they have a lot of online stores to choose from.
- Apart from the cash back you receive, you can still use coupon codes and discounts.
- It’s free money, and there’s no monthly fee.
Rakuten is my favorite website to use for any type of shopping!
Using Rakuten is free, and you can earn cash back for your spending on your normal shopping from the many Rakuten stores. You can sign up through my link to receive a $10 welcome bonus when you spend $25 online.

I love using Ebates! I mean, why not, right? It works with almost all of my favorite stores that I was going to shop at anyway, so might as well get some cash back in the process!
I love using Ebates and have told everyone I know, if you're shopping online they're a fool now to use it!
Ebates is genius! Back in the day I made a ton of money just from referrals alone. Have you heard of Honey? It's a browser extension that checks for coupon codes at the checkout when you make purchases online. I love that one too!
This is so interesting, never heard of Ebates until now. I'll have to check more about them.
Ebates is cool, but it requires that you spend money (duh right?). It's not so much earning as lowering the cost of your items, but if you're going to buy something, you might as well do it with ebates. Given all the ways I have found to truly earn money online, I have a hard time calling this "earning" but, but… I do think it's awesome to use just when you shop around. It's like having a really great credit card with awesome rewards.
Ebates is great!
Ebates is one of my favorites in regards to earning cash back! It's so easy to use.
Ebates is cool. Thanks for sharing.
I can never remember to actually use ebates! I really need to try harder, thanks for the reminder.
