On July 4th we headed to the beach. Many others were lucky to also have Friday off, but Little Lyn had to resume school and I had to go back to work. Regardless, Thursday, July 4th was a beautiful day. Nice breeze, blue skies with white clouds, and warm waters. Perfect day to head to the beach or so we thought.
My favorite beach in Miami is Crandon Beach. It’s like a hidden gem in the middle of Key Biscayne. My intention was to get there at 9 AM. I woke up a little later than I planned, and Little Lyn kept taking long to get ready, you know how it is with kids. We had a nice, healthy breakfast at home. We left home around 11 AM, which was still a good time. I was worried the beach might get full and not find parking.
The parking fee was around $7 for the whole day. I thought parking would be less, but the parking covered the whole day. Not sure if this was a special holiday rate.
The only problem was the condition of the water once we arrived at the beach. When we arrived I was a bit upset at the sight of the seaweed. Some people didn’t mind and still went in the water. And others would arrive and as soon as they noticed the seaweed would leave. What would you have done?
We kept it minimal with the things we took. I’m trying to keep minimal, and simple in all areas of my life. I planned of eating breakfast and lunch at home so we didn’t have to carry extra things to the beach, so this meant being at the beach for about two hours, and it worked. All we took were towels, a big umbrella, water bottles, and Little Lyn‘s sand toys. We also applied sunblock at home. Then got home just in time to have lunch.

THE PHOTOS
Little Lyn took for me the photos where I’m standing, and sometimes I call her my Little Assistant or my Little Helper, hehe. In this case, she was my Little Photographer hehe. She did a good job huh? The last three I actually took myself. All these photos were taken with my Canon G7 X Mark II camera. Soon I’m planning to buy a flexible tripod to make it easier to attach anywhere, and you can even use it with a phone.
As for editing I like using Adobe Lightroom. I like bumping up the colors slightly without changing too much the skin colors. Most of the presets I keep finding make the skin look orange or yellow, not my style so I’m creating my own presets. As you can see I also made some of the photos Black and White to change up the style.
WHAT I WORE
I thought this would be the perfect day to use my new bathing suit for the first time. I received this bathing from Amazon Fashion. They gave me a certain Amazon credit for me to spend on any clothes and this is one of the pieces I picked. Last year I actually did an Amazon Shopping Haul video.
On this particular day, I was wearing a Tempt Me one-piece white bathing suit with palm leaves. It was super comfy, and the perfect fit. When I got home I realized the straps are also removable, so that’s a plus on this cute bathing suit. This bathing suit is available in so many solid colors and a variety of patterns with flowers and palm leaves. I paired my bathing suit with Elie Tahari sunglasses in Rose Gold which added a nice touch.

I applied lighter colors and went with tones on the pink side. I know you can’t see it in these photos but I applied a darker color to my crease to add a little more dimension. With the same blush color, I applied it on the crease/brow bone. This was to keep my makeup minimal, and simple.
We talked about visiting the beach more often. We have it near and we barely go. We have a pool at home so this might be a reason why we don’t go as often. Another goal for me this summer is to learn how to swim. I’ve been practicing, so wish me luck!
We truly enjoyed the beach on this day despite all the seaweed. I enjoyed the warm breeze and watching Little Lyn having fun made my day. She’s so friendly and easily makes new friends. She’s definitely an extrovert, while I’m an introvert.
Thanks for reading, and until the next blog post. Have a nice week :))
